has any one herd about the new 2011 demo 8's not working well with 40's? if so why don't they work as well?

I broke my cage on my x-9, its a plastic cage so and idea jumped into my head, would it be possible to use plastic welding to fix it instead of buying a new derailer, or can i buy just the cage and replace it? cheers

i have a pair of pikes that don't have the u-turn feature and i want to lower the travel on them from 140 down to about 100. how do i do this? (if it makes much of a difference they are air forks too) any help is greatly appreciated
