Had to go to local shopping centre today - No one is signing in anywhere and it is sooo crowded

From what I’m seeing here in the Scotland it’s that signing in has largely been abandoned except in places like bars and restaurants where people are remaining in the one place for an extended period and they are removing their masks to eat and drink (masks in indoor public settings have long been a requirement here unlike south of the border)
I can see this happening in Australia soon as people are going to quickly tire of getting SMS’ requiring a long wait at a test centre then a day or two’s isolation because they grabbed a 6-pack from the bottle-o (while masked up) at the wrong time.
The other thing I’ve noticed is that people are in the habit of home testing before going to social events. I’m supposed to meet old schoolmates at the weekend for drinks at a fairly lower risk venue. Everyone has been asked on the WhatsApp group to do a rapid antigen test that day before meeting up.
This is made a lot easier by the fact that you can get home testing kits for free from the chemist whereas the kits I bought in Australia before leaving were $15 a pop - if you could find them.
That’s not to say everyone’s being as socially responsible. There are still a lot of maskless fuckwits about - hell, in Aldi even some of the checkout staff were going maskless and I have also noticed on the trains they have announcements reminding everyone that some folk can’t wear masks for medical reasons (sook-itis is the name for the condition, I believe) as I think people have been punching on over it.
