Fortunately not it seems. Basically exists because ebikes look like bloated fat guppys so they need aesthetically beefier forks so they don't look as shit.So 1.8in taper steerer tubes will be a thing soon..

Fuck! I thought my old Recon at 1.9kg was heavy!2.5kg isn't bad for a 38mm 'budget' fork!

FIFY. Definitely appeals to the same democratic.Who doesn't want a girthy downtube? It's like putting a lift kit, 35’s, lockers, winch, hi lift hack etc on your Hilux to cruise around town
Yes.demographic?
Not hard, just icky.Is using a front derailleur really that hard?
Opposite experience. GX 11sp at least seems flimsy and flexy compared to XT11sp (which is cheaper). I do much prefer the XD cassettes. Even the basic GX is light enough, durable, and shifts beautifully. In my experience even basic 1x drivetrains have been a billion less noisy and unrefined than anything with a front derailleur. I like a quiet bike.
However, as far as 1x goes, I think Sram has pantsed Shimano. GX appears to be basically unkillable, and X01/XX1 stuff is very nice to use - and unlike Shimano requires bugger all attention to remain very nice to use. Fight me.
It's for the mopeds.
IMO: a tacit admission from Shimano that their recent cassettes haven't been durable enough. So they've fixed this problem by making said cassettes even heavier. How's 780g for an 11 speed XT 10-50? And no it's not compatible with anything Shimano offers currently.
