Yeah I was going to write a post yesterday in response to @moorey and @Haakon's conflicting optimism/pessimism about the extent to which the Dems have just put all their money on there being sufficient anti-Trump sentiment in the voter base to get an outcome, but that video makes the same point in a much more entertaining way.

Still...Trump's policy of bombarding the electorate with lies seems very effective at motivating his supporters. I errrrrr more to the M Moore school of thought - repeating known errors of the past is error.

Agreed. I'm definitely less confident of a Biden win than many others. I'm also not certain that increasing polarisation by going with Bernie necessarily would have been any more of a sure thing, but when there's so much to be gained by just increasing voter turnout, it would really be nice to have someone who doesn't just inspire so much "meh".

Seemed like a race of fossilised lizards...a candidate less entrenched in their "swamp" would have been a good move I think. While I'm all for wild way out left solutions to capitalist problems, I don't think the voters are.

Honestly couldn’t have put it better. I was never on board with him running or being nominated...but I do think that overall, he is a good human with good intentions, who has done some racist and creepy things...more out of ignorance than intent.
I do worry that he’s just about the least equipped choice to take on Trump...but is hopefully deemed acceptable.

They do seem to be applying the Russian model. Which ironically they had a lot of influence in the formation of at the end of the USSR...maybe, if the theories are to be believed.

I get it. It's easy to be cautious about the result and even easier to be worried or even despairing about the likelihood and consequences of the rage toddler getting another four years. And as I have whined about before the RNC and the reaction to it was both frightening and extremely depressing.
But then the toddler does another batshit interview and I am reminded that the biggest threat to Donald Trump being reelected is Donald Trump. If he stays on script, his delivery is boring and slow with none of the passion and energy of other famous fascists. If he goes off script we're injecting bleach. Every interview and unscripted quote is just more evidence of his clear and rapid cognitive decline and while that won't dissuade the MAGAs it'll do plenty of damage elsewhere.
I also disagree about Bernie. He never had the support. If he did, he'd have won the primary. But his base didn't turn out (again) and here we are. I've believed for some time that the USA will need a healer and listener to rebuild after the toddler is bundled off and Biden is perfect for that. Also the Republicans would have just painted Sanders as a "socialist" and bombarded the airwaves with Bernie Frankenquotes about admiring Cuba (etc.) and nothing is going to scare an undecided American voter more than a communism.
Appears the Trump team is behind a lot of those fake Biden videos doing the rounds on twitter..

Assuming the worst and the big D get another run at it I wonder how quick the Democrats will be to try to impeach again. It certainly seems there’s enough evidence around to pin him with something. Trumpy is too engrossed with his own sense of awesome to stop doing things that are blatantly against the law.
