Sad but true.

Tear-offs are clear lens covers; when your goggles get covered in mud & shit, rather than trying to wipe the lens clean but instead spread the muck all over & scratch the hell out of it, you peel off the tear-off to uncover the next clean one. If you're a responsible rider you'll stuff the used tear-off into a pocket for appropriate disposal post-ride. If you're irresponsible, refer to the above quoted passage....

I've done it before with Shimano, no issues. Just don't have that plastic sleeve in there.

A better way of doing is grind a hole in the bottom of the bottom bracket so water can just run out - saves precious grams too
