    I've got 160mm travel front and back. The climbing is a little harder but the descending is what it's all about.

    try the Roof Top Maps you can link up bike tracks with fire roads and go a long way. We've done it around bunyip state forest and it turned out to be a good day's riding.

    I'm another for keeping cost down. It's the reason why i'm not doing all the races. $20 cheaper at each race would help, i think you'll recover your money by increased number of riders.

    knee/shin vs knee gaurds

    i've lost my footing while hitting a jump and landed on only one foot on the pedal, the other bear trapped me on the shin...............i recomend knee/shins.
