Thought i'd go for a quiet midday ride before school holidays started. Failed. Tyres flat, pumped up and sealant has obviously expired and bubbles appearing all over my tyres. Sealant ordered. Went to throw bike in new car, bike doesn't fit in new car. Went to put on bike rack, rack doesn't fit new car. Dodged up rack, had to stop twice in 5 minutes to re-secure rack/bike. Got to tracks, a school bus, 30 kids + 30 bikes on tracks already!
Not a good day then?

Blue bling added to the previously monochrome spider

Thanks @Arran @wkkie @kip01 for some of the blue bits. Also CRC

Also been busy printing more MTB stuff. Not sure how strong the chain guides will be, but it's inexpensive enough to give it a shot at least. And if anyone wants a cane creek db air can spanner let me know

I've got a blue hope seat collar for you that's sitting in my center console that @TheAzza gave to me.

Went for a 20km ride around Davies Creek this morning. Totally different environment to Smithfield with dryer, looser, rockier trails. Loads of climbing and some fun, loose berms. I almost lost it a few times but managed to hang on.

One funny incident had me knocked off my pedals and my butt dropped onto the already lowered seat. I looked like I was riding a Raleigh Chopper!

PS. I rolled off my pedals several times, not sure if it was poor technique on my part, work out soles, not so wide platform or some combination of those.

Bend at the hips, slightly bent knees and arms when you hit technical stuff descending. Dropping the heels of your feet slightly helps a bit too.

100% it ain’t the pedals.
Have you seen what Sam Hill does on those pedals? God damn.
But does he have size 13 feet? It's probably me though.

It also happens when I change down gear and I seem to be caught by surprise and I roll them off sometimes! Again, it's likely an technique issue.

He is not a particularly big fellow. Pull out one of the pins and go to your local specialist hi tensile bolt shop. Ask them for a box of slightly longer pins...all the grip you could want! But be warned...your shins may become hamburgers.

They should work Ok, thought you may have possibly been using normal sneakers or skate shoes. The Five Ten shoes stick to shit, they use a proprietary rubber on the tread but the price is over the top.
I'll see if there are any specials. As with anything rubber, the Cairns climate seems to half its lifetime.

Shimano AM7. About 4 years old now.
If they're the older style with the Vibram rubber they're a little lacking with the grip. The newer Shimano shoes with the Michelin rubber have much more grip.

With the Vibram, you'll have to be right on your technique especially with rocky sections and drops.

Shit is pretty stocky though.

5:10s are as overpriced as they are overrated. Just rode more and get used to things, and put the bigger pins in. Your Shimano shoes should work just fine. Roll the savings over into something better.
