It's a small aerodynamic spoiler, sometimes fitted on its own, but more often as an addition to a larger wing element.
Super nerd fluid dynamics question!. Does the winner need to also advice the change to drag coefficient from gurney flap of different heights?

Gurney’s on helicopter horizontal stabilisers (the rear vertical tail fin) help with the wild conditions it has to work within.

Only know this as I watched something on the toob with my son a few weeks ago about helicopter tail fin design. Started of course with a collection of test copter crash footage

I only know of Gurney flaps in automotive uses, not the finer points of exactly how they work.

Anyway....

Dan Gurney, after whom said Flap is named, was one of the key people behind which shortlived, late-60s Formula 1 team?

(Bloody gorgeous cars too)
