2009 Kona Big Kahuna...

It's like a rocket ship with wheels attached
What brakes are on your rocket ship? I'm wondering if Shimano have finally grown a brain and are using split clamps. I use foam grips (Ritchey WCS) that I glue on and non-split brake clamps are a nightmare.

Its the new style Deore Hyraulics (think they are listed as the 2010 model but were on my 2009). Can't make any guarantees cos I'm at work but 95% sure Shimano have grown a brain. For Deore they work well and modulation is great.

My MCR. SSed up. magic gear 32:16. Nothing special on it at the moment.

got some stans flows on the way, getting them laced to some hope pro2's. currently trying to figure out what to replace the doodly, almos rigid drakes with. Probably a fox, maybe a reba, but definatly something with a 15 or 20 axle

After much discussion with the guys from Blacksheep Imports the decision was made for a Blacksheep Highlight to replace my Salsa Mamasita as the first of my race bikes for the 2010 racing season which will include the World Solo 24hr Championships.
They stepped me through the whole procedure including fitting, geometry, assisting with part selection and even building the bike into the early hours of this morning.

Unfortunately it is a work day so this is as good as it got with the camera. Tomorrow is Saturday so I will update the post with some more detailed pictures.

Build is as follows:

Blacksheep Highlight with 25"ETT and 20.5"ST
Gold Hopes laced to Stans Arches
Gold Arch skewers
Ignitor front, Crossmark rear
Reba Race with Pushloc
Formula Puros' with Straitline levers
Alligator ti nitrate rotors
Hope headset (gold)
Thomson X4 stem
KCNC SC Bone handlebar
Ergon GX1 grips
XTR shifters
XTR front and rear derailleur
XTR Pedals
Middleburn cranks and chainrings (22/32/44)
Blacksheep seatpost
Woodman deathgrip seat clamp (gold)
SRAM PG990 chain
WTB Silverado saddle
Weight - 11.2kg with tubes installed

I still have some ideas to drop some more weight without going too silly, including conversion to tubeless, some lighter grips, a lighter stem and perhaps lighter bars.

Many, many thanks again to Shannon and Pete from Blacksheep Imports for all of their support and assistance.

ohhhhhhhhhhh... that's purty...
+1... real purty.

Sumgy - now for my questions :p :

1. Ya gunna get a low mount front mech to get around the interference with the bottle mount?
2. Why the Middleburn cranks (and not XTR like the rest of your group)?
3. The Silverado seat - does it have relatively wide "sit bone" support?

1. Nope, I dont usually use 2 bottle cages and if I need, to the cages that I have still work AOK despite the clamp being there.
2. I played with getting XTR but I just think the Middleburns suit better. Also I can customise chainring sizes on the Middleburns to suit. Rachel, who is our other rider has a set of 20/30/40 chainrings. I can also easily convert them to SS when I want to do that.
3. Yes, 13cm wide by 28cm long.

Rach will be along soon with pics of her preciousssss.
