I like Commencal bikes but have never felt like they live up to the value hype. Maybe that's just some Australian market thing but the spec is often pretty shit for the price and you would be left wanting to update a lot of components.New Commencal Meta SX out .... some model ETA: When next year's model is announced
Also 5k for the almost base Rockshox model ... thinking back to when the Clash Race (RC2 fork, RSC brakes tier) was $4.9k.

They were easily on par with what other direct to consumer brands were offering up until this covid thing hit. Who are you comparing them to, just so i know where to buy the next bike.I like Commencal bikes but have never felt like they live up to the value hype. $5,500 for SRAM NX and a Rythm 34.

Don’t have pre-covid prices but right now the Meta TR Essential (for example) is $5,600 and comes with fox perfomance (not elite) fork and shock, SLX shifters and brakes (2-pot), formula hubs and mostly in-house components. They were easily on par with what other direct to consumer brands were offering up until this covid thing hit. So they talk about the jump compatibility of the bike, but clearly it's only good for trailering your bmx to the (really freaking sick) dirt jumps? I'm confused.

Yeah it's...the kind of shit puke bike piss out.Fuck man, that pinkbike article is so white people
Can't argue with this. Their current pricing pits them against specialised and the boutiques. But they used to be priced against nukeproof which was where their value rep came from. At least back in 2019.Don’t have pre-covid prices but right now the Meta TR Essential (for example) is $5,600 and comes with fox perfomance (not elite) fork and shock, SLX shifters and brakes (2-pot), formula hubs and mostly in-house components.
Virus Escarpe is $4,800 with select+ Rock Shox fork/shock, SLX driveline and brakes (4-pot front and 2-pot rear), full DT-Swiss wheelset, triple compound Maxxis tyres. Oh and a carbon frame if that floats your boat. All for $800 less.
Nukeproof Reactor for $5,300 with select plus fork and shocks, GX drive train, Guide RE 4-pot brakes and good tyres. Similar level spec but $500 cheaper
Polygon Siskiu T8 with very similar level spec for $3,600. Spend $2,000 on a riding holiday
Giant Trance X for $5K. Similar spec but maybe a touch lower spec on a couple of things but you have $600 to play with and improve some bits beyond the Commencal and you get shop support.
Canyon Spectral CF7 for $5,300 with select and select+ Rockshox fork/shock, GX level drivetrain, full DT Swiss wheelset and a carbon frame for $300 less (not looked at shipping for both brands)
That’s all I can be bothered looking at for now but I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get a Norco Sight or GT something for around the same with shop support…
I'm convinced it's a decent bike but only for the middle sizes. Everyone else gets a compromise in geo. 435mm rear centre across the entire range?New Trek Top Fuel
Trek Top Fuel Review | New frame & geometry, with a whole new attitude (flowmountainbike.com)
The top model alloy one looks decent value and sensibly specced, and fits the Downcountry/'Fat Man XC' (credit: @droenn) niche pretty well.
I'm amazed that a company as big as trek is not offering different CS lengths across the sizes...I'm convinced it's a decent bike but only for the middle sizes. Everyone else gets a compromise in geo. 435mm rear centre across the entire range?
More "playful" with every size bigger!I'm convinced it's a decent bike but only for the middle sizes. Everyone else gets a compromise in geo. 435mm rear centre across the entire range?
They probably realise that no-one will even notice 3mm or 6mmI'm amazed that a company as big as trek is not offering different CS lengths across the sizes...
"It's a feature dear customer, you're welcome!"More "playful" with every size bigger!
That's true, some make the differences 5mm across the entire range and few attention to it. Others, like Trek and Pivot generally CBF and just ignore it.They probably realise that no-one will even notice 3mm or 6mm
Except the marketing team!
