New Commencal Meta SX out .... some model ETA: When next year's model is announced o_O

Also 5k for the almost base Rockshox model ... thinking back to when the Clash Race (RC2 fork, RSC brakes tier) was $4.9k.

I like Commencal bikes but have never felt like they live up to the value hype. Maybe that's just some Australian market thing but the spec is often pretty shit for the price and you would be left wanting to update a lot of components.

They were easily on par with what other direct to consumer brands were offering up until this covid thing hit. Who are you comparing them to, just so i know where to buy the next bike.

Don’t have pre-covid prices but right now the Meta TR Essential (for example) is $5,600 and comes with fox perfomance (not elite) fork and shock, SLX shifters and brakes (2-pot), formula hubs and mostly in-house components.

Virus Escarpe is $4,800 with select+ Rock Shox fork/shock, SLX driveline and brakes (4-pot front and 2-pot rear), full DT-Swiss wheelset, triple compound Maxxis tyres. Oh and a carbon frame if that floats your boat. All for $800 less.

Nukeproof Reactor for $5,300 with select plus fork and shocks, GX drive train, Guide RE 4-pot brakes and good tyres. Similar level spec but $500 cheaper

Polygon Siskiu T8 with very similar level spec for $3,600. Spend $2,000 on a riding holiday

Giant Trance X for $5K. Similar spec but maybe a touch lower spec on a couple of things but you have $600 to play with and improve some bits beyond the Commencal and you get shop support.

Canyon Spectral CF7 for $5,300 with select and select+ Rockshox fork/shock, GX level drivetrain, full DT Swiss wheelset and a carbon frame for $300 less (not looked at shipping for both brands)

That’s all I can be bothered looking at for now but I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get a Norco Sight or GT something for around the same with shop support…

$5k for nx is gross.

Best photo in the article doesn’t even have the bike being ridden!

So they talk about the jump compatibility of the bike, but clearly it's only good for trailering your bmx to the (really freaking sick) dirt jumps? I'm confused.

Fuck man, that pinkbike article is so white people
Yeah it's...the kind of shit puke bike piss out.

Specialized (yeah I feel uneasy too) status 140 or 160 would be another price point competitor for the meta.

Can't argue with this. Their current pricing pits them against specialised and the boutiques. But they used to be priced against nukeproof which was where their value rep came from. At least back in 2019.

I'm interested to see what Trek do with the Fuel now that the Top Fuel seems to be stealing a lot of it's thunder. Do they go 140/150 with it and make the next iteration of the Slash even longer, lower, slacker?
