    1990's Trek 'Ejector Seat' rebuild

I'm so jealous, my first proper mountain bike was a Trek 9000. If you ever sell this thing let me know!

    3D printing question

Unfortunately there's no way an aussie machine shop is going to be cheaper then outsourcing to china even for one off parts. If you want I can get you some details of machine shops over there. I'd be interested to see the quotes compared to aussie machine shops... Alternatively I've had...

    3D printing question

You can print with a variety of metal these days through a few different processes. Most aren't ideal for a functional part like this. You would have to go the laser sintering method which at the moment is cost prohibitive. Airbus use this technology for 3D printed brackets used in the A380...

Am I expecting too much from Ultegra shifting?

B tension adjusts the angle of the derailleur to accommodate different size cassettes. Basically get it as close as you can without interfering with shifting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQncKmddahk Follow these steps and you should have perfect shifting.

WANTED - Giant TCR Advanced SL seatpost clamp - LONG

I just measured mine and it's a 6cm clamp. From what I understand Giant only supply 6cm clamps since the 4cm clamp was not supporting the seat tube correctly. You should be able to get a 6cm pretty easily. If you're struggling maybe the guys at cyc'd for bikes http://www.cycdforbikes.com.au/...

WANTED - Giant TCR Advanced SL seatpost clamp - LONG

Hey, I don't have a clamp for you but I was told that you can no longer get the short clamp only long clamps. I have a 2011 tcr advanced SL. I did have the a short clamp fitted but the paint started cracking around the base of the clamp. Took it back to my friendly bike shop and was told...

    The Vintage Mountain Bike Thread.

Hey Raucons, I still have no idea what the frame is. I emailed this guy about it http://oldmountainbikes.com/ here's his reply: I don't recognize the frame. It's definitely not a Ritchey model. It does look like a nice frame, and the serial number would imply that it is part of a smaller...

    10 years of Farkin Rotorburnery

10 year anniversary... seems like just yesterday Dom was telling me about a website that some of his mates had started. Might be worth a little trip down memory lane. My first proper mountain bike. My dad bought this for me when I was in grade 9 or 10 from a cop auction in Cairns. Had a full...

MTB to Road - New Bike Advice

Was in your shoes a few months ago. Get yourself a race bike, if you get anything else as soon as you start getting quicker you'll want a better bike. As far as i'm concerned you can't beat the value of a Giant. You can pick up a nice TCR for around the $3000 mark and you'll be pretty happy...

    An unfortunate chain of events.

My old frame is up for sale if anyone's interested: http://www.rotorburn.com/forums/showthread.php?254296-CRACKED-Large-2009-Specialized-Epic&p=2622562#post2622562

    An unfortunate chain of events.

I'm finally back on a bike. Specialized sorted me out with a crash replacement frame for a reasonable price and after a few issues it's finally built up. The biggest issue was that the 2009 fork crown didn't fit on the 2011 frame. The guys at the bike shop and Specialized sorted it out free...

    Carbon rotors??

I don't think these are such a good idea... Firstly cars use something called Carbon carbon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinforced_carbon–carbon. These look like carbon fibre reinforced polymer which means they're sheets of carbon fibre bonded with some kind of resin. Assuming it's...

    An unfortunate chain of events.

So I stripped the bike today and took a closer look at the damage. It might just be the clear coat which has cracked but who knows? The guy at the bike shop was pretty convinced it was cracked. I also found some damage where the cable to the rear brake has rubbed maybe 2 - 3 mm into the swing...

    An unfortunate chain of events.

Feeling a bit of hatred here... It really did just fall over. I did fail to mention that it fell into a pile of tools and bike parts so it may have collected something on the way through. It's just shit luck really. The crack is in the middle of the down tube. As a top of the line XC...

    An unfortunate chain of events.

I was moving my road bike and knocked it over, not like I threw it on the ground or drove over it or anything. Was just a stupid accident, it probably won't be covered by warranty since it's not a manufacturing defect though...
