Read your SB900 manual. I believe you can do that in commander mode. I'll play with my SB800 I'm sure it can do the same I just run the slaves in manual and spend a few moments setting up prior to shooting.

When you do your testing note the file size of the pics you take and then work out the max pics you'll take in a day. That will be the size card you need. I use a pair of 8gb cards with 2 pairs of 4gb cards as back up. I've never used both 8gb cards on a days shooting and I shoot raw+jpeg. I...
You will regret this... as has already been said although this is a kit lens it is the perfect lens to shoot DH etc on a DX sensor. Don't think you have to have a lens to get the shot and don't compromise on lens quality they will be with you a lot longer than the camera back. Borrow a fish eye...
I second what Tristan has said. I offload the cards in the camera after each shoot onto the pc/laptop. Make a copy to an external usb drive and the drive then gets unplugged and put on the shelf that is my backup. I then make another copy of the pics on the pc and use that to edit modify etc...
Finally got one! Now, if only it weren't such a rubbish day, I'd use it!
Be careful they are hard to take off once you put them on..... if you know what I mean.
