Why I love my Weber BBQ

Their customer support is freaking awesome!!!

Yesterday called them about my electronic igniter and thermometer issue on my 2yr old weber. They said no problems and couriered out replacement parts. Got them today, sweeeeeet!

I didn't have to show proof of purchase, or take it back to the shop, or even pay for shipping. Everything covered under warranty, no questions asked.

I can't think of another manufacturer, BBQs or otherwise, that has customer support this good. Weber are awesome!

Plus if you follow the cooking instructions it's perfect every time.

My 2 webber q's 1x baby for camping and the family q for home have been two of the best domestic purchases I have ever made.

Had a very similar customer service experience with weber when I cracked my lid because the bbq blew over in a storm. I rang/emailed fully expecting to pay for the replacement bits but they sent it out no charge under warranty.

Will never buy another brand of bbq again.

Bought a Family Q back in January after my other bbq died. Sensational piece of kit, love it! We actually use it more than we use our oven nowadays.

I actually have 4. Normal LPG one and a Q220. The other 2, a NG one and a baby Q I picked up on verge collection (some people are crazy). Had all 4 going on the weekend for big family bbq. Looked impressive!

Hmmm maybe I should call up about mine, hasn't worked in ages! I just use a cigarette lighter to get it going! Haha!

I found a genuine Weber trolley and a baby Q in bits on the side of the road. I use the trolley and I put together the baby Q and it worked, gave it to my mrs friends as they wanted it but they have never used it, I'm going to go get it back!

Hahaha... i thought I was bad with 3.

BabyQ for camping and general park/beach BBQ's
The trusty Kettle for the slow roast, long beer drenched Summer Sunday BBQ's.
Genesis for the everyday BBQ.

Weber are expensive, but the are excellent quality and customer service is second to none.
The Genesis was delivered for free and assembled by a bloke in my yard for me. He told me that he had recently changed a burner or a 15 year old Weber for someone , free , under warranty!
Top service!

This is a joke! I loved mine until I moved homes and had to convert it back to LPG. Rang around and no option but to get gas fitter to install the new injector nozzle, something I was happy to do myself and have done a million other times on BBQ's. Even asked the size of the new nozzle but was against their policy to disclose this. Rang gas fitter and was quoted $165 big ones for a two second job and a month wait time while the part was found.

If anyone has the details on converting the thing to LPG from natural, I will be forever grateful.

Got 3 Webber's, baby q, kettle and go anywhere.

They all have a unique way of cooking and tend to specialise in certain cooking techniques.

Baby q, quick and easy cook anything except roasts but I miss the smoke of the coals ones. Bbq's veggies beautifully too.

Kettle perfect for slow roasts, indirect cooking and pizzas.

Go anywhere has the grill very close to the coal so its a hot fast cook perfect for steak, skewers and seafood, indirect smoking of fish like salmon is also good. It's just a little small, I'd like another one about twice the size please Mr Webber.

Are you a qualified gas fitter with a licence to sign off modifications to a gas appliance?
This is the law...... so having "done a million other times on BBQ's" was unlawful.

Webber's official stance on converting gas types is no.

My understanding is that many parts need replacing, valve, hose and regulator so $165 doesn't seem unreasonable.

Isn't LPG hotter than NG anyway?

LPG has a higher calorific content... so more energy per a given volume.

Some Webers are in the $3-$4k mark, so $165 for the changeover isnt nuts.

Just get a LPG hose and regulator off one of the many bbqs thrown out every weekend. Obviously check its still ok. Not sure what else is required for a conversion though.

Yes LPG hotter. LPG better for steaks. NG better for chicken, seafood, veggies, basically anything that requires long cook times or gentle heat. Having said that, I almost always use the NG one now anyway, simply more convenient.

LPG is more versatile as the energy potential is higher,it can be better for searing and hotplate cooking.
Webers are designed for hood down slow cooking anyway, so both will cook slow roast equally as well.

Jets are different diameter as the air/fuel ratio is different for NG and LPG. You need to change both supply pressure regulator, Hose (if not rated high enough) and the jets.
This is why you should leave the conversion to qualified people! Statements like this ^^^^ are dangerous.

If you camp/picnic with your Weber Q this may be useful. A LPG filler hose. Cost ~ $150. I bought mine through BlueLPG's ebay store though you can buy direct off them.

I use it to top up my 1.25kg gas bottle from my 9kg gas bottle. Heaps cheaper than a store refill and less complaints from the kids carrying 9kg bottle :)

Pays for itself after about 6 refills.

There are SWPs on the net. Just make sure you understand them fully and wear appropriate PPE. There are also some youtube videos but some are dodgy including the BlueLPG one.

We needed a new BBQ a few years back and we were the lucky winners of some vouchers one Christmas so we bought the family Q. I'll agree that is does cook a nice meal but far out, it's bloody expensive and in the end, it is just a BBQ.
I reckon you guys have got something similar to a Jeep owner's club going on here. :llama:

Gas jet? Given it has a reg probably means burner.
