It's funny, I was only thinking last night that I don't know of any regular burners we've lost in the last 10 years. I 'know' more people on here than IRL, and have lost a lot of IRL people in that time, not just to old age.
I assume we have, and just figured they wandered off the forum.
To quote myself, I think the average burner is fitter and more health conscious than the average person, and while as susceptible to mental health problems as anyone, seemingly more attuned to it and prepared to try to acknowledge/address it.
In short, we’re pretty awesome IMHO

Sorry to hear that mate, terrible news yet again for Audax.
My uncle was unfortunately the previous audax rider to suffer a heart condition during a Sydney - Melb event a few years ago.
Brings it home again a bit as my dad actually had a quad bypass performed on Friday. Luckily doing well now. Look after your health guys, particularly if there is any family history there.
Sad news alright.
Best thing we can all do is see our GP for regular cardiovascular checkups and blood tests. If you have a strong family history of high risk factors such as high blood pressure then consider asking for a referral to have a CT calcium score. Might cost you $100-150 but could catch things early.
Interesting article on just this topic in The Weekend Australian just gone.
And please do not ignore any chest pain and by pain I mean pressure, tightness, discomfort or indigestion type pain. Throw in unexplained shortness of breath as well.
In my experience middle aged men are the most reluctant to be proactive in this area, often to theirs and their families detriment.

180 !!!! 220 minus your age = 169bpm... you are in trouble :p

We took the Yoinker to a heart specialist as his max HR was about 215bpm... I thought that was wrong and his should be ~204bpm max (220-age)

Heart specialist wasn't concerned at all, they did an ECG, stress test and had a 24h monitor on him. His resting HR was min of 34bpm, they said he's a fit young teen.

Needless to say, I was a bit worried about him and with the ticker, better safe than sorry.
Pffft. I like to push the envelope :)160 ish is my AVERAGE on a fast ride. I've always had a higher rate, but I drop fast. 10 years ago I'd max out at 200. Resting rate is sub 60.

Knowing Vittoria are about to start releasing tyres again, I have been G00Gl3 for Mazza's, Martello's and Syerra's.

Found Lordgun with Syerra stock last night and was able to add 3 tyres (4th tyre made the postage jump) and then slip in a couple of other sale items.

Tyres were only $59 each but shipping was $55. UPS 3-5 day shipping apparently.

Even says DWN.CUNTY :D

I had a warning shot in 2017, the year I was turning 50. I had been going to the gym every lunchtime for years and considered myself to be pretty fit for my age. Didn’t drink a lot, but the gaspers were my vice. I went to the gym as per normal this day and all was going ok until I hopped onto the treadmill and started running. Felt dizzy, turned the machine off and woke up 5 minutes later with the gym staff looking after me.

I got a driver (this was in Indo) to take me up to the hospital. I had an ECG and the resident cardiologist suggested that I had some sort of blockage and he would need to have a look. Long story short I had 3 stents put in as part of the overhaul and haven’t looked back since. Never touched another smoke after that day.

Not sure if more nauseated by the DWN CTRY or the perfect matching of shoes to fork decals.

I bought my bike a LGBT chain. I got so excited that I'd found one on special that I jumped on it. It looked silver without my glasses on. I'm not really into oil slick but I presume/ hope the finish doesn't last long anyway....

How much and where from? I’m not fussy on chain colour/finish…

It was in eBay via Pushys. Pushys website was out of stock on XX1 but they had this one on eBay for $100. You could check to see if there's more?

Took the MTB out earlier this week but it is still damp, overgrown or both. Not as enjoyable as it is in El nino times. I really need a decent dirt ride, Oh well.....Give it time.

Conceding defeat but it is first world problem and others have real issues thrust on them recently so I should STFU and be happy.

Took Justin, the hardest hardtail since hardtails were ever made, for a dusk blat since 'Rain the sequel' is supposed to premiere tomorrow and hang around for the rest of the week.

An embarrassing high performance bike lock is now on the seatpost ready for an impromptu Banh Mi stop. The 'burbs demand security for your trusty steed. Gee, how did that get there? Extra weight definitely makes it faster down hills.

Not all that bad I guess.......
