Straight to PW, however I read about a bunch of other triggers being fine. I think cybersyncs?
There was a thread on POTN.
I have cybersyncs and haven't had a misfire with them. Tried catus and canon's own infra-red systems before that. Highly recommended for those budget conscious but want quality.

Ever tried them on a 5D?
Never on the first gen, but I have a 5D Mk II, and before that used them on a 30D and 40D all without problems.

Sweet, they might be worth a shot. From what I've read the MkII has similar issues with some triggers as the MkI, so hopefully that's a good sign.
I never saw this problem on the 40D (or the 30D for that matter), so it's definately something about this body/trigger combo.
