Yeah it sounded pretty hectic there, with chairlift queues to the bridge. Did you like the B track so far?We did Thredbo also on the saturday and sunday at easter. The weather was brilliant, track great and busy on sat, sunday a bit less traffic. Heard about your shoulder injury from sembc nsm, doesnt sound fun at all.My eldest managed to crash heavily and knock himself out on sunday, but all was okay after a rest.Got the aftermath of it on video, riders came from everywhere to help out, which was good to see.I managed to do six runs down sat and seven on sunday, which doesnt sound much to some, but at 53 its my limit of pain !
The line up for the chairlift on saturday was lengthy indeed ! What was great for the downhillers was the express type entry for us on the left side, which bypassed the line, but the mood of the others waiting and watching us bypass them was not so great, but we pay more !! We never did do the B line all weekend,we prefered to stick to the A line,as it's the most carnage track for your money. The a line does rattle the crap out of every bolt on bikes though, and i was constantly retentioning bolts on the sons old DH comp. The b line looked like it needed a wetdown when viewed from the chairlift,as a lot of dust was coming up from it. A good season or so of pack down will hopefully help it settle. We stayed at the Alpine Hotel,it was cheap as, and was right on the chairlift area, sembc shop and the pub.Being easter the pub was very busy, and was single heaven with many an easter bunny on the prowl, much to my eldest's delight! What i think is really needed in the town is a dirtjump or skate bowl area for those who wish do a bit of jump practice or whatever before goin up the mountain. I do a bit of both when not downhilling and it's a great alternative. We checked out the bowl at jindabyne, not bad at all,but didn't have time to spin a wheel there.Yeah it sounded pretty hectic there, with chairlift queues to the bridge. That's a long drive.I didn't realize help was that far away from Thredbocrashed bike at thredbo thursday or friday, broke collar bone and shoulder blade. Drove 3 hours to hospital. Got collar bone plated on 40th birthday(12th).:distrust:
No it's not that far. There's a Doc at Thredbo a few days a week, and Cooma hospital's well under an hour away. I'm living in Canberra, just figured I might have needed an MRI scan that I don't think Cooma has, and to make follow up trips easier I came to Canberra. There's also tons of first aid trained people in Thredbo. That's a long drive.I didn't realize help was that far away from Thredbo
Ahh, that brought back memories for me. Approx 10-15 years ago i was racing either a state or national race (and in vets then too) and on the sun 1st morning practice in the mud i went otb and had the bike land on me. The quick release seatpost clamp was opened in crash and went into my knee (about 2inhes deep) nearly came out the other side. It doesnt sound much in words but made a huge gory mess of my leg. I was taken off the mountain in the troopcarrier and then told no doc avail....at a nationals...bahh.That's a long drive.I didn't realize help was that far away from Thredbo
About 10years ago(can't believe I'm sayin that)riding my local trail about 15k from town went over the bars cracked my knee on something have no idea what, rolled half a dozen times down the hill and couldn't move for abou an hour.Had no phone 2k from the car and in so much pain I thought Id have to wait for a missing persons report befor they found me.Ahh, that brought back memories for me. So had to find the wife to go get my car, get me back to lodge for her to pack up car etc, and we went to cooma hospital. After 4 hours there with them digging around with what looked like tooth brushes to get out all the dirt(the pain was so intense i kept passing out) they said it was beyond them and they wanted me to see a surgeon in canberra. I had a huge case of the tommy tits by then as it was 6pm, so i said book me into nepean as i lived in sydney and i got the wife to drive me there. Got there at approx 10pm and was in hospital for 2 days.
Why they didnt have a doctor to advise me the severity i do not know.... i can now look at the scar and smile.... how i love DH
