Sailors could get lonely on those long sea voyages. Compare with pegging the admiral.
There's a song in this! Something something...rigging.

Presumably broaching the barrel?
The origin...of the phrase is indeed in the tapping of a barrel, but I think Moore dicks wants the specifics of which barrel. I wrote it in my reply to his correct answer earlier. It's a wonderful piece of naval trivia/myth.

In modern times the phrase has a more acceptable notion.

Anyway it's Friday night, so (to use a naval phrase) up spirits!

Since we participate it that fabulously anachronistic institution otherwise known as the Commonwealth Games, how many ingredients are in the Commonwealth, the most complicated cocktail in the world? Bonus points for the games city location in which it was invented

Definitely should have gone to specsavers
Glasgow, and I assume you're including the shards of glass as well as the cocktail ingredients? Special edition Comm Games Glasgow handshake?

Glasgow is correct. Still some work to do on the number of ingredients.

Hint: It's the same number as the number of nations who competed
