Hey mate, what have you got on the bike to get it down to 10.5kg. Ive got a large 20" and i can only get it to 11.5kg. I wish to lighten it up, you've got to let me in on the secret
Have you got the Anthem LTD or a different model? There is significant weight difference between the models.

10.5 sounds about right for the LTD.

Yeah mine is the same size and model. The only parts i have changed are

Seat- from the fizik tundra (199g) to a specialized toupe gel (205g).
Wheels- from XTR (1500g) to TWE (1550g)

I seen 749dark's bike, its a medium but he has changed alot of things to get it to that weight = $$$$$$$ hahahah

Apart from changing the wheels to get it lighter, i cant see how i can lighten it up to get it under 11kg

I would have thought that was easy to figure out.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :D

On a serious note I was thinking about this last night and I reckon getting an Anthem X under 10kg is quite achievable for not a ridiculous amount of money.

My hardtail is 9.5kg and frame weight is 1,430g. Anthem X should be approx 2,300g in large so you have an extra say 900g.

Compared to my current build spec you can save:

Forks 150g (SIDS or 2010 Fox)
Wheels 150g (varous options)
Pedals 70g (Eggbeater 4Ti)
shifters 80g (SRAM X0 grippies or XTR trigger)

So that that makes 9,500 + 900g - 450g = 9,950g thereabouts. Various other small savings could be made too.

Nothing on my bike is stupid light or hard to obtain so its would be a durable build even at that weight.

If you want post up your spec list and we can suggest where savings can be made - starting at the cheapest 1st.

One more thing - how are you weighing your bike - I think your scales are off there is no way this bike ways 11.5kg in my opinion. If you are using bathroom scales ignore them you will never get an accurate reading off them.

Looking at your bike it has too good a spec to be 11.5kg. More than my Trance Advanced and that has heavier parts than yours.

Agreed gixer, I don't think the bathroom scales are a suitable guage when talking about spending $$$ for g's... I'm picking up my X LTD from the mechanic's tonight (will use his scales) and should have an 'accurate' weight for mine when I get home and accurately weigh the chain & chainrings that aren't on it right now... then at least we'll know for sure what mine weighs!

Later...

If your using Stan's gloop then you could start by changing the UST tires to standard tires and dropping 300-400g.....

As for the TWE wheels, I havent had a problem, the only reason i got rid of the XTR wheels was i didnt want to destroy them out at menai. The TWE's only way 50gms more than the XTR

I'll also post up a pic of the bike on the scales, i dont use bathroom scales i used the scales at the shop. If anyone can find a way to lighten it up fire away.

Hey Elliot, Carbs has some good pointers or you can copy my specs.

Reckon I can get the new Anthem X Carbon (when it arrives) into the 8kg range?

Never trust the bathroom scales or reviews...

OK - sorry for the confusion, my Anthem X LTD (large) as you see it in this pic is not 10.5 kg's... I've just had it weighed at the mechanics and it's about 11.32 kg's with the stuff listed below. If I was real keen I could probably get it close to 10.5 kg's by swapping the tyres to narrower 2.1 non UST, removing the cage, lizard skin, frame protection top and bottom, and Polar HR sensor and mount... but I'm stoked with the ride and set-up just as it is for my everyday and race bike.

For those who are interested - as you see it in the photo above...

11.32 kg's including:
- UST Rocket Ron 2.25, 650g
- UST Racing Ralph 2.25, 710g
- Stans Liquid, 180g
- Specialized Bottle cage 38g
- Lizard skin, ??g
- Polar mount & speed sensor ??g
- Protective tape on top and bottom tube ??g
