Mystic MTB - Bright

Judging from that Flow article linked, it sounds like the financials are a lot better now the membership system is in place (ie: they claim to be breaking even now, instead of perpetually falling into the red like prior)
Has the number of riders on the trails dropped ?

Like 50,000 per year before they introduced the pay-to-ride, now 25,000 paying riders, so half the wear and everyone who rides, pays ?

Agree, financials look good because some income is better than none.
Maintenance costs would also be well down because numbers are well down

I wonder how many air bnb owners in the area are chipping in for trail maintenance? It would seem a logical and small investment by local businesses owners in one of the main attractions to the town.
Bright thrives without those trails on the hill. Yeah it's an attraction but I would guess that a very small percentage of rentals go to MTBers.

Dorset council put in a "waste levy" for Derby but every single Air BnB there would be for MTB, as @ozzybmx said, Bright has plenty of nonMTB visitors, so you couldn't justify all of them paying for the maintenance on the trails but it could be for the township in general and some of that goes to the trails.
The Blue Derby foundation manages the trail network at Derby these days but I'm not sure how much the council chips in.

It's more the shuttles. Pretty much a 10x multiplier of traffic. Nearby the indigo epic probably gets just as many visitors as mystic, but it's spaced out over 30km one way and folks not repeating downhill shreds.

it's almost counter-intuitive, but the solution for high volume trails is to build more trails.
and not flow ones.

That is a better result than I expected. I was fully expecting the thing to be commercialised and riders lose out. Hope the council manages it well.
Surprising outcome, hopefully they value the economic boost and throw some cash in, rather than charging everyone to even enter the park.

Looks like a Blue Dirt day uplift shuttles have been bumped up to $85 the past week. +$25 for the membership day pass makes it $110 for day.
Bring back private shuttles access .. was happy to pay for that

Comparison in AUD:
Van
Maydena $110 - 9:30am to 4pm (6.5)
Boomerang $70 - 8:30am to 3:30pm (7)

Chairlift / Gondola
Whistler $90 - 10am to 8pm (10)
Queenstown $115 - 10am to 7pm (9)
Leogang $100 - 9am to 4:30pm (7.5)

Oh... and there's 20times more trail and it's 100times better...
Someone thinks its got the Bright-appeal dollar attached to the trails. Its a beautiful place but even the $25 a day has me out, the trails are not that good.

Not in a few years but TrailScapes are doing some work there right now. Not sure what it entails.
Them and the tree harvesting has cut the park in half. Can't get from one side of the park to the other without going thru some kind of no go zone.

Can't comment on the downhill stuff but it's no better than anywhere else I've ridden.

Sad, its a by-product of visiting Bright. There is so much other stuff there to keep the family and 'us' occupied. A quick few shuttles at the end of a day, sightseeing was great, we did it 3-4 times over the years, 3pm some self shuttles, maybe 3 shuttles at most, Hero trail to lower stuff, was a great end to a day, then brewery, then restaurant for dinner and more beers.

No interest in going back sadly.

Climbing trail and two descending trails.
