I've actually found drivers that are adhering to the NSW rules for overtaking a cyclist. Current commute involves a few kilometres along a country road. Some drivers are so enthusiastic to give me a metre that they will cross doubled lines into oncoming traffic to get past me safely. One driver narrowly avoided having a head on collision.

Do they not understand that they can just slow down for a few moments and wait until it is safe to pass?

Well I had to go and ruin a good thing by talking about it! Had a series of close calls today. A bus cut in a lite close and I thought "come on buddy" then a few moments later another bus...this guy gave me plenty of room. The oncoming driver must have shit their pants!!! Behind the bus is a pretty bogan ute who must have been taking a nap and cut in a pretty short metre. Horns. Finger. Was a good time for a big smile and a wave. Keep in mind this is a fairly straight stretch of road.

Behold about 200m up the road the ute has pulled into a driveway! You bet it was filled with the type of hill billies that could have played extras in Deliverance. Fat guy tells me I nearly caused an accident. I really shouldn't have stopped. Apparently I need to give a metre so cars can overtake me! I tried to explain that if it isn't safe to overtake they can wait...anyway after being told they had me on dash cam and I should pay rego and bikes shouldn't be allowed on the road he says "I shoulda hit ya..." anyway civility over I ask if he would be hitting me the say way he hits his mum? You know...right up the Pu$$y! Turns out Hill billies don't like that and I rode away with a touch of haste.

Haha, it's the weekend, so of course I'm just about to smoke out the gully!

Two types of Taco night, one with 5 hour smoked bbq pork shoulder, should pull nicely and I'll do some chicken thighs over the spit and liberally baste with garlic lemon butter. Should be epic.

If only medicinal was mandatory.
Years ago I took a roadie to Nz south island. Not one drama on narrow mountain roads with no edges. people slow, wait , wave, polite.
I also had hard run with some angels on mc through Picton hills to Motueka, and they were considerate to cyclists. Filled em with loud though.
Visit Europe. Nanna still rides.

Having ridden a road bike all around Sydney the last decade, I completely disagree with you. The Vast majority of drivers are fantastic if you are not an idiot. Unfortunately there is a very small minority of people with their head shoved up there arse who are complete fuckwits.

That minority factor is the same all over the world.

Nah I'm not talking specifically about drivers, I just mean in general. Australia is not filled with nice people.
