High Speed Car Rally in Victoria on the 1 March

Hello fellow mtbers,

I am the officals coordinator for the Ceberus Stages Car Rally being held on the 1st March 2008.

This is round one of the Victorian Rally Championship. It is based out of Neerim and is being run around Noojee and Powelltown, about 90 minute drive east of Melbourne CBD.

We are looking for people to help with the running of this event. We need people who act as a road closure Essentially this means sitting in the forest by yourself or with some mates watching the cars go by. Dead easy job. You could even go mountain biking after the event!

What type of cars? Most likely the field will consist of a few WRX's, EVO's (2's & 3's) VR4's & Legacy RS's, maybe a few commodores, excels, some escorts, gemini's and a whole lot of datsuns of various descriptions! All in all, a great selection of cars should be on show and there should also be some spectacular driving, especially from some of the tail enders who will be driving on the ragged edge and just a little beyond their ability (speaking from experience!) :D

Doing a road closure if definitely worth it as you get away from the general spectator points and get to see a good bit of the action.

Also a great opportunity for all the budding sports photographers out there (perhaps some of the snappers from the Photo Snob thread might want to get out there and take a few shots?)

I'd offer to help out SRM, but I'm not in the state, or the country at the moment.

Nojee / Powelltown is a long way from Eltham. Look it up on a map. Eltham is NE of Melbourne, Nojee / Powelltwon is east of Melbourne.

My brother and i are planning to boot around the stages on my dirtbike... if you see two dudes on a YZ250 give us a wave!!!

nikson.....dont boot around the stages on your dirt bike until they're opened again by the Clerk of Course, otherwise you'll likely get killed by a rally car!:eek:

hahah nah definately not!! when i meant boot around the stages, i meant to and from more as a convenience thing... but yeah wait untill it's all cleared... i have seen vids from the old school Europe rallies... some people get way too close!!!

I've heard that back in the 80's, Portugese spectators use to get their fingers ripped off as their rings got caught on the cars as they tried to touch them as they went past!
Stupid stuff!

StanzaRallyMan, I take it you drive or nav in a Stanza rally car, yeah?
Got any pics of it either in action or stationary you can post up? Would love to see it.
Me, I ran a series 2 Bluebird for a bit after I managed to twist the chassis of my 1600 :mad:
