Dropper Post offset

Hey All,

I'm wanting to get a dropper post for my Giant Anthem. The current post is the standard Connect post with single bolt and around 22mm offset. Most of the droppers have zero offset with one of the few exceptions being the Giant Contact dropper with the single bolt. I'm a bit reluctant to go this way because of the issues many have had with the seat tilting. I don't really have a view on the zero offset option but as the Anthems are already fairly short in the top tube plus I've dropped from 100 to a 70 stem, it may feel cramped. Would the combination of a zero offset post and short stem make the cockpit too cramped? Are there any other droppers with reasonable offset, or should I go with the earlier Giant dropper and stick some carbon past around the clamp area?

Cheers
C

Check where your saddle rails are currently clamped, maybe there's room to slide it back a couple of cm on a non offset post

command post is good, no issues with the saddle clamp moving and i've smashed my ass on it on bad landings a few times. the SRL lever is one of the best out there too, highly recommended.

I'm in a similar position. I have always used a lay back seat post but my new bike came with a Reverb which has no offset. Tried to get used to it but no good. I've been doing a fair bit of searching and if you want an internal routed post, specialised command post is the only real option (that is proven, reliable etc). Only problem is they are $500.

Not sure where you looking I bought a command post from local specialized it was $299 about a year ago.

$499 was the price I got from 3 different local dealers in Melbourne in recent weeks. The current model is fairly new, guessing you got the old one.

the new IRcc has an eye watering RRP of $499.

your best best is to find a brand new take off. have seen a few as people have wanted a straight post, etc.

That is some price hike for an incremental improvement (more than 3 stop positions). The mechanism otherwise faultless my first one still going strong over 4 years old.

I run a KS dropzone on a giant XTC and it is perfect with the off set for steep seat tubes and none of the problems of tilting like the old giant droppers like I had on a 2014 trance. ( now upgraded to 2016 2 bolt model )
They are a bit hard to get hold of at the moment but can generally be had for under $300.

Do you run the Dropzone with the underseat lever or remote? My wife has late model XTC advanced and I can't see any easy way of cabling it.

Both my dropzones are under seat...as are ALL my droppers. Fuck cables :hand:

Pretty easy to grab? Sorry this maybe a dumb question but when you want to drop the seat do you need to sit on it to force it down (like an adjustable bar stool)?

i have a KS dropzone on my hardtail (nowhere to run the cable) and a remote Specialized Command post. the KS Dropzone has a much nicer action than the specialized - you need to be careful to let the seat run up the inside of your leg with the specialized or it will punch you in the nuts and eventually break all the fingers off the collet.

i prefer the remote lever - it is better if you want to use the dropper and keep both hands on the bars. the under the seat lever is quicker than stopping to more a quick release clamp but it requires a little more planning when you are riding. rolling descents with pinches are the worst. seat down charge down the hill standing up. when the pinch comes you pedal up. if you're unfit like me you sometimes don't make it to the top without needing a seat. not the best time to take one hand off the bars. if you can go remote do it. The post will get more use.
