    Are Skins worth $139?

Nice pair of bib shorts for riding. Get home and go stand in the ocean for a while or sit with your feet elevated = same effect as skins.... But if you wanna pay money to look like a triathlete go ahead :)

    Rim strength - engineering analysis

I'd be interested to have a read of the discs one.... I've been running rear disc for six months or something, and at first found that with the rotors in the traditional direction, they were colapsing and BADLY warping under reverse loads........ Would be interested in anything to do with...

    Rim strength - engineering analysis

Nice work man...... Must've taken ages..... I'd actually be curious to see the difference in strength between eyeletted and non-eyeletted rims and, as Gary said, drilling of sidewalls..... Adam

    bike for trial?

The problem with DJ bikes is not the weight, but the geometry..... You can definitely learn the basics on them, but you really have no room to move on the bike once you get it up on the rear wheel.... I'd always recommend a smaller XC frame over a DJ......

    Stock or mod for noob?

As you are coming from a MTB background i would say stick with 26inch. Mods are easier to learn static moves like gaps and sidehops, but a 26 will also allow you to learn a lot of moves that will make you a better trail rider. I have always ridden 26 and while I do enjoy the flickiness of 20s...

2007 National Championships is PRE-ENTRY ONLY

OK.... Let me first start by saying that I organise trials comps. Apart from work at a bike shop that's what I do. The BC Course wasn't a good course. Hell, it wasn't a good practce/warm up area for a national comp. I have been in touch daily with the guys 'building' the trials course and as...

2007 National Championships is PRE-ENTRY ONLY

Actually at Lithgow the organisers thought "Hey, this place has some rad stuff for trials, let's invite them as they may enjoy it." Whereas at Stromlo, they have gone..... "Yeah cool spot for XC, nice big hill for DH, we can get a shitload of sand in for 4X......" Then someone at the back...

2007 National Championships is PRE-ENTRY ONLY

Awesome, pre entry only, a huge entry fee and a course that hasn't even commenced construction yet...... That should keep the numbers nice and low  Maybe next year we won't even need to hold a trials comp at all, wouldn't that be super

    Short travel fork

Depends a lot on what frame you are running to I guess...... I can't think of a trials specific frame on the market that will accomodate the length of a suspenson fork as it would mess the geometry up too much (and no I don't count Ryan Leech's Norco as trials specific). If you are running...

    Short travel fork

Gee..... It's been about 7 years since I ran a suspension fork on a trials bike.... Hard question to answer. Generally suspension sucks for trials as it alters your geometry and as such you handling. I'd probably look at something like a RockSHox Tora 318. They are an air fork so you...

    gear ratios

I have always run 22-18 or 16-13 on stock bikes depending on what bike I was riding - ie the Koxx can't take anyhing bigger than an 18 up from, designed for 18-15 gear that all the Euros love.... Generally if you gear it higher (harder) you gain power but lose precision and vice versa. I...
