Which tyres do you prefer and why

These were a massive chunt to remove, the Trail Boss was harder to get on but easier to get off. Quite the opposite with the Vigilante. I ended up standing on them and even then they were chunty.
Trail boss popped off like any other tyre but as others have stated I might grab a quick grip on the weekend to help get it off.

Anyone got experience with Specialized tires? I've just bought a Stumpjumper EVO that came with them. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet because I'm still waiting for some bits and pieces. It's got these on it:

- Butcher, GRID TRAIL casing, GRIPTON® T9 compound, 2Bliss Ready, 29x2.3"
- Eliminator, GRID TRAIL casing, GRIPTON® T7 compound, 29x2.3"

In the past I had always run this setup, and liked it:

- Assegai 2.5 EXO Plus in (MaxxTerra most of the time, put a MaxxGrip one on for overseas trips).
- DHR II 2.4 DD MaxxTerra.

Wondering how the traction will compare to the setup I'm used to, and how the GRID TRAIL compares with EXO+ or DD casings.

I reckon that will be a pretty good setup. I’ve only read reviews of the new compounds and the t9 sounds like it sits between max grip and max terra.
Previously, I’ve run butcher, purgatory, ground control and they’ve all been pretty good quality. The bead on the purgatory was too tight but the tyre was a good rear/trail tyre

I’ve been riding Specialized only since they did their two-for-one last year. Butcher in T9 Grid Trail is a good front tyre. Like EXO+ Maxx Grip I reckon. Grid Trail a bit light for the rear w/o inserts if riding anything rocky. Their gravity casing is pretty hefty, maybe somewhere between Maxxis DD and DH. I ran the Cannibal on the rear for a while (gravity casing, T9, can confirm very slow and very grippy). Reverted to Eliminator in Grid Trail w cushcore. FYI I weigh 72kg after getting out of the shower and ride the roughest stuff Canberra has to offer (not that rough I guess)

Do we have much rough stuff these days, Stromlo has gotten a bit Janky with the no ownership thing? Blue Range downhill?
Also do you just run cushcore in the rear?

Isaacs can be hard on a bike, Tuggers Pines has a few rock drops and gaps, and the unsanctioned trails at Stromlo are pretty bouncy.

Blue Range is not too bad - at least in my limited experience, the really tech stuff is so slow you can’t do much damage.

Yeah I just have cushcore in the rear. Maybe I don’t get over the front enough, but I rarely seem to have punctures or rim issues there.

let you google that for me
Looks like Schwalbe is gearing up to bring their tyres in line with their recently updated branding. Not sure I'm a fan to be honest, I like the bold square lettering of the current tyres.

That’s all well and good but your logos should line up with the valve stems or you can line them up with your wheel logos. I don’t make the rules they are just the unwritten rules of tyre installation. ;)

I'm usually particular with this and gave it a go on the rear wheel but I couldn't be fucked with the front.

Considering it’s a show pony and doesn’t get ridden you’d expect more from hambo as our resident tire obsessinista.;)

Dont let @beeb see or he may need therapy. I may or may not count the letters and aim for the middle….
