vert tips?

So I posted this in the street/dj/4x section but someone suggested I try here for a better result, so here go's:

There was a bit of a post about this a couple of years ago but I thought I'd get some fresh ideas.

I recently (read: this afternoon) worked up the courage to start trying my hand at vert/halfpipe riding. The result - I love it!

So, while I'm fresh, young, and impressionable what advice do you seasoned veterans have for someone just stepping out?
Anything from tips about dropping in and pumping to doing no handed flairs (ok, that one may take a while to work up to).

One downside - My bikes a chunky, heavy as all hell, freeride hucking orientated Kona Scab. Bear with me. :p

Don't worry too much about height, focus more on staying smooth and catching as much transition as you can when airing. That way you conserve a lot more speed and will make everything so much easier.
