Trance rear wheel play

Just adjusting the brakes on Dads trance x 29, as they were rubbing on the rotor and noticed that i can quite easily move the rear wheel from side to side even with the quick release cranked as hard as i can. There is a small ding in the seatstay anybody got any ideas?

If is the Tracker Sport hub: Loose cones? Bearings flogged?

Assuming the bearings aren't stuffed, pull the wheel out and have a look for some sort of adjustment nut & locknut setup on the rotor side of the hub.

Yeh i have a suspiscion the bearing might need some love after just having another quick peak, the wheel sounds nice and crunchy.
