Thanks Ladies and Gents, some very good replies in there. For the record, I have never sent anything via Australia Post to a buyer. I only ever use registered couriers with consignment tracking. Yep, it's a bit dearer but it's a hell of a lot more timely and reliable. I despise Australia Post and cannot recommend them for anything, they are getting worse with the influx of cheap contracts they signed with people who don't speak English and don't even have Australian residency. You want to trust those people with your gear? Geeeeeezus!!!
Anyway, I have my methods and have not had any dramas at all using couriers.
I'll suggest some good reasons to use a courier that can help you sell your gear ten times quicker. How do I know? I've had over one hundred sales through this site alone.
-A courier can collect the item from you so no need to go to the post office.
-A buyer can have their own courier account number and have you send it to them so no upfront cost is allotted to the seller.
-It's quicker!!!
-I'm not sure of the comparable costs to Australia Post but it isn't that dear. If a buyer wants the goods then paying freight shouldn't be a drama.
I do understand people's opinion of not wanting someone else to handle their gear and that makes the "pick up only" thing very valid. I also understand people don't have time or resources to get to a post office or delivery depot too. In saying that, those two things are very important and I will not force trading are sales to be items you have to post but I will ask that you consider some of the suggestions when listing an item as you do have options that can improve your chance of a quick sale at a good price.
