You're confusing the bike with the rider"Baum Espresso -This is a fast bike."

I've seen little evidence of that....

I used a DMR Tensionseeker II on a frame with vertical dropouts. Worked fine. How are all you folks with vertical dropouts achieving chain tension? Im building up an SS XC bike with vertical dropouts, hopefully It will get close enough with a normal chain or then a half link.
Chain tensioners, Surly make one and rohloff make one as well (see setonz's zion 29er) both really good. How are all you folks with vertical dropouts achieving chain tension? Thanks! I have one piece of advice though, don't get an older French bike in the first place!! Or then make sure you check all the various components for compatability, ie. seatpost size, chainring bcd (if you plan to keep the stock cranks), bb thread type and bb spindle length. Most Carbolite models sport everything you don't want, i had one myself and i actually threw it out because i didn't need the hassles.noice!!! thats what i want-sourcing a peugeot frame at the moment actually...though its not reynolds tubing, i think its carbolight...nice job though...might have to contact you for some tips...
I'm pretty sure he knows about tensioners, he was referring to all those who have gone without them on their vertical dropout frames.Chain tensioners, Surly make one and rohloff make one as well (see setonz's zion 29er) both really good.
Magic gear is great but takes a bit of experimenting.
Hey he asked????I'm pretty sure he knows about tensioners, he was referring to all those who have gone without them on their vertical dropout frames.
I have tried it on my old commuter/mtb and got the ratio right, however without a bolt up axle it just doesn't stay put well enough. I suppose that must be the secret then, no quick release on the rear.
My SSources tell me that true single speed mtbing should only be rigid and with rim brakes. I know that the old Magura Racelines I'm putting on my SS were considered too hi tech by some to fit the 'holy' SS ethosBaum Espresso - A dream bike. I started with the geometry of the 1x1
and raced it up a little. Since this photo was take, the useless CF bottle cage as gone (in favour of one that actually works) and has Goodrich brake lines added. This is a fast bike.
