An interesting bike from the early 90s, not quite trail worthy as yet but getting close
So kiddies sit back with you cup of tea and I enjoy viewing the bike which sporned such imitations as the CATS WISKAS and the DONKIS NOB.
Tonight I present you with The D.O.G.S B.O.L.X. (Dirt Orientated Geometry System Blend Orthagonal Xtra if you must know)
Frame - 1993 Chas Roberts The D.O.G.S B.O.L.X - built to order frame made from a mixture of Columbus Max Road, Columbus OR and other hand picked tubes depending with part of the frame
Front fork - Chas Roberts rigid steel
Handlebars - Italmanubri (Italian Alloy thing)
Bar ends - X-Lite
Stem - Ringle
Headset - Silver 1" threaded
Grips - Yeti
Saddle - Selle Italia Turbo
Seatpost - Suntour XC Pro
Front brake - Suntour XC with Ringle Mojo hanger (silver)
Rear brake - Suntour XC with Ringle Mojo hanger (red)
Front brake lever - Suntour XC Pro
Rear brake lever - Suntour XC Pro
Cranks - Suntour XC Pro MD (Mirco Drive) 42/32/20
Chain - not sure
Pedals - Ritchey
Front derailleur - Suntour XC Pro bottom pull operated as top pull via a frame roller
Rear derailleur - Suntour XC Pro
Front shifter - Suntour XC Pro
Rear shifter - Suntour XC Pro
Cassette - Suntour 7 Speed with screw on block
Front hub - Bullseye
Rear hub - Bullseye
Front rim - Matrix MTB Titan
Rear rim - Matrix MTB Aero
Spokes - Silver ones
Nipples - Silver ones
Tyres - Ritchey Z Max WCS in Red 1.95 front 1.75 rear
Tubes - one in the front and one in the rear
Total weight - not sure
It was a bit of an impluse purchase, but fortunately it rides really well and whoever the frame was originally built for choose nice angles and a good top tube length. The ride is also surprisingly comfy.
The rear rim needs replacing as the one on there has cracked but the Suntour 2 pin screw on block is proving rather difficult to get off the Bullseye hub. The bars are also cracked so they will need replacing to.
Ther red on the rear end should be black so that may get fixed up at some point but its likely to be well after its been riddin.
Give it a few weeks and it should be all fixed up and I'm even half tempted to give the old girl a run at some local short course events.
