Hey im just wondering if anyone has any tips on getting sponsored..... ty
Probably the bet way to get sponsored would be to show which ever give sponsor that your worth their money and time.

What ever your discipline, you need to be pretty good and have a solid set of results to prove it. Doing considerably well at state events would be a pretty good start I'd say.

Hey mate.

1)You need some good, and more importantly consistent results behind you before you go out applying, a potential sponser wants to see somebody who will always do well, not just once or twice a year.

2) You need to be fast, you can't be losing races. You don't need to winning them all but if you are thats a bonus. In a higher catergory usually too.

3) This is the most important one, you need to be a nice person. Sponsers need you to be approachable and the sort of person who will have a chat to you in the shuttle line or the pits, where ever. A lot of sponsers would refrain from sponsering someone who is really fast if they're a total tosser whose up themselves etc.

A lot of hard work and persistance, its not going to happen overnight so you need to be doing plenty of training and getting to know the right people.

Good Luck :)

And a good mate Jack ;)

But yeah, pretty much what Jack said. You need to be someone with a good reputation, and pulling some half decent results usually.

Could help if you spell sponsor right...

If you're just starting out and looking into getting a small spono (shop or similar), results are not going to be the main focus. More on how you would represent them and conduct yourself on and off the bike at races and out riding on weekends.. Results only start coming into play when money is involved normally...

Do a search, there has been many threads on this topic

Make up a resume to hand to the potential sponsor
If it's small shop based sponsorship list all the bit's you have purchased off them int he last 12 months and why you choose to buy your stuff there

List your competition results. As Pattto says it's not all about coming first but getting in and having a go

List your goals for the next 12 months (the races/competitions you are planning to do, what results you hope to achieve and how you plan to achieve them, training schedules...)

Explain how you are going to promote the company, sitting around the skate park looking cool and while wearing their shirt isn't likely to cut it.
