Surely the hub has a bearing spacing tube though.


Single row deep groove ball bearings, as commonly used in wheels, known colloquially as cartridge bearings, do indeed have shitty side loading capabilities. If the bearing spacer isn’t the right width, side loading will pretty quickly wear bearing races and they will feel quite crappy

Not sure but I thinks it's the way the bearings are held in place rather than the bearings themselves. I can't remember what hubs that model came with.

I have a feeling that these hubs didn't have a spacer, hence why he got one made up.

Update on this thread.
I chose to upgrade to the alloy evo version.
Was supposed to arrive late Feb but has now been pushed out to mid-April.
Will wait and see if a bike materialises in April...
