Yerp, DJ bikes are very often used, however I'd personally stick with a Bottlerocket or p.slope. The Flight Trail maybe ti much of an in joke for you to handle.

Technically you can ride what ever you want. Well, you'd probably get turned away if you tried to ride an Emu down a slopestyle course.

No, some of the pro's just clamp a shifter onto their top tube because it looks cool.

What does the OP mean by Slopestyle? Does he want to hit his local dirt jumps? Road track at Oxy? Is he planning on busting out some moves at Crankworks or has he secured an invite to Farm Jam? Or does it sound cool?

IMO if you need a forum to tell you hardtail or dually you are going to be hard pressed to justify such a use specific bike...but if you are after something that is a good allround bike that also jumps a Bottlerocket wouldn't be a bad choice.
