Seat post troubles

Aight,

so i got my new frame, morewood izimu, and I'm having problems with the seat post going in its hole. Any holes a goal. Look at me im going off on a tangent. Anyways i measured the seat tube and it reads 30.9, which i was also told by the bike shop, I also measured the seat post to be 30.9.

When trying to get the post into the tube, the outside of the post is just the same size as the inside of the frame. Ive lubed the post up, still wont budge.

Would it be a bad idea to go down to 30.7 and run a ghetto coke can shim to get it up to 30.9?

Any info on how i can get the post in would be good

was the inside diameter of the frame measured with a vernier caliper?

it may not have been an accurate measurment without one

but yeah thinner post and coke can shims always work :)

Check with Morewood to make sure it's the correct size, assuming it is, then you have three options.
  • If you bought it from the LBS just take it back and let then deal with it.
  • Return it to the supplier.
  • Otherwise find a good engineering shop that has an adjustable reamer and have them run it through the seat tube.

Current year model specced as 30.9mm

Thomson do a 30.8 in 2 lengths:

SP-E131 - 30.8 dia. x 367 mm 239 g
SP-E130 - 30.8 dia. x 410 mm 259 g

I'd try them before reaming out seat tubes.

Normally i would just say you need a bigger hammer.

BUT this is not the case today. Cos if you fuck up the post/tube its just shit

Take it to the lbs and see if they have a slightly (and we are talking bees dick measurments) small post to check if its the right size,
Maybe there is a fault in either of the products frame/post.

Test a few post sizes before going ghetto
or reaming out the tube.

Heres a guess.......

He tried to fit the post in the frame with the seat clamp still on and slightly done up........

Forgot to remove the seat clamp completely before testing the post...

Had a bur that a rub with some emery cleaned up and now it slides in like melted butter.....

C'mon.....share with us?
