Riding with no ACL ????

Hey all had a bad injury to my knee recently and there is that much damage in there that they are not going to repair my ACL.
I have had an ACL graph about 7yrs ago and with my current injury they said they will do more damage if they try and repair it, i have a frature in there and also a macerated meniscus. Spoke to a couple physios and specialists and they said i might be able to ride again once i strengthen all the muscles around my knee and it becomes stable again.
I would like to know if any other of you fellow riders are getting around with no ACL and still riding ??
Im willing to wear any brace out there if it helps and i only ride d/h, free ride and jumps.
Thanks in advance

I've snapped my ACL twice and at the moment I don't have one in one knee. I've been riding for around 4 months with a Pod mx brace which has been good. I have done leg strengthening and it was pretty important. The knee braced leg does get a bit more fatigued because blood flow is a bit restricted but I still use it for both xc and downhill. I rode confidently with it but it took a little while to get used to it. You only really need your acl when putting your foot down in a corner do try and limit that.

Hey thanks peeps yeah , i looked into the type of brace that Brendon was wearing once i found out that he raced the rest of his season with out his ACL.
I also was wearing a brace when i injured it (evs web knee brace) but i dare say that it was on loose when i did a big foot dab and that is what caused this injury.
Im also quite a loose rider so i tend to foot dab a fair bit, might have to tame my riding down, bulk up the leg and try and keep my feet on the pedals a bit more !!! lol thank once again

I had an ACL reco from skiing and got told a couple of years ago that I need another because it has stretched out and isn't doing anything anymore.
That was when I took up mtn biking and I've never had an issue on the bike. Get into it buddy. Don't go skiing tho

lol cheers mate yeah i have gave up on any sports that have my feet locked in skieng, wake boarding and snow boarding are a big no no .
Guess i might get a custom cti brace made up bulk the leg up and see what happens when i do another big foot dab, which is bound to happen once i start riding again or do a cycle of roids on my leg :heh:
Thanks for the info peeps was contemplating selling up the bikes and taking up knitting but that rush of sketchly making ya way down a gnarly track or coming into a corner to hot and keeping it rubber side down has kept me coming back again and again, even plastic surgery when they had to sew my lip back to my face hasnt stopped me so i guess this should be no different :)
