Remove the DJ at Manly Vale School

Could whoever built the DJ in the corner of Manly Vale public school car park please remove it.
If you need to build DJ's go to red hill where there are already plenty. The Manly Dam track is a fantastic example of MTB track building working in harmony with other trail users and every effort is made not to damage or disturbe the enviroment and hence is very good advert for MTB's which can be used as an example to help get more trail access.
With some idiots hacking a great big hole in the ground to build a DJ in a very public part of the dam track sends out the complety wrong image and all the fantastic work of many dedicated riders who've built up the track is undone.

Yes this coming from an angry rider but I'm more concerned that all the good work that has been done with the Manly Dam track is not undone by a couple of idiots building a dirt jump out of nothing. Lets try and keep Manly Dam as an example of mountain bikes working in harmony with the surroundings so if the mountain bike community (we) are asked to show how a MTB trail can be built in a public place on council land we have a really good example, that's all, quite simple really.

Maybe its a sign that mountain bikers want more out of Manly Dam? Sending punters to Red Hill to construct more jumps is not the answer, we dont need another builder.
The council should provide land for a legal jump park managed by local riders. This would resolve the problem.

Why provide dirt jumps where the predominant form of riding is XC? We can see the difference between the riding disciplines, other cannot. An injury on the dirt jumps, lame-arse parent sues Warringah Council, Council closes the whole show. There are already plenty of nay-sayers around.

Good luck getting the council to provide land for a jump park. They are not going to give anyone an excuse to sue them...... :)

I cant see a legal dirt jumping park to be more dangerous than a skate park. If anything it would be safer. But your probably right.

Agree also. Strongly agree.

And as for people wanting more out of Manly Dam, we're talking one loan jump in a really public place, it's not like anyone's talking about bulldozing an established dirt jump area here.

Manly Dam really does stand out as fine example, let's not wreck that.

You're absolutely right in that regard, the Brisbane City Council and the surrounding smaller councils now have at least 7 or 8 legal, council built and maintained jump parks, ranging from desperately lame to the nationally renowned (in BMX circles at least) trails at Ferny Grove that were discovered by the council and had the gaps filled in to make them into super-tables that now ride better than the old doubles that were there. If your Council cries "Public Liability" on suggestions of a jump park, call "Bullshit" and have them get in contact with the Brisbane City Council or Pine Rivers Shire Council.
