Well we had a great afternoon of racing yesterday. It's amazing how the best races are often the simplest. People were having beers between runs, some were riding in thongs and we even one person riding an xc bike with full seatpost extension. Hopefully we'll have some photo's soon.

Results
1st – Lindsay Klein - Santa Cruz, For The Riders, SRAM, Havaianas
2nd – Daniel Castillo - Ashgrove Cycles
3rd – Randal Huntington - For The Riders, Tomac, Six Six One
4th – Sam Trevor
5th – Brett Lancelot - Vizion Shopfitters

Yesterday, the Huntingtons had a Slalom Race in Brisbane to help raise money to get Sarsha overseas to compete at the 4X World Cups. The “family picnic” held in a council park in Bulimba was a great day and racing on the slalom track was extremely competitive. Although numbers were low the best riders were there in the A Group fighting it out for the title of “Australian Single Slalom Champion!!!”

A big thank you to all the riders & spectators who made the trip out to the event. It was a great day of riding and racing. Thank you to Sarsha’s parents for all their help on the day! A big special thank you to Sarsha’s sponsors: For The Riders who have supported her right from the get go when she first starting riding bikes 4 and a half years ago. And to her major sponsors Super Sports & Tomac Racing Australia. Both these guys put up prizes and raffle prizes for the event and it was excellent to have their support.
To all Sarsha’s sponsors she would like to say thank you for all your support for this season and she hopes to get you all some good results overseas. Thank you to; Six Six One, Jet Black Cycling, Revolution Magazine, KWT – Onza & Hicks Sign Co.

If you couldn’t make the event and still wish to donate some money then please feel free to send Sarsha an email at sarsha@flashpointpromotions.com.au where her bank details can be sent to you.

Full race report and results can be found here.

Race Report:

With 2 riders eliminated at the end of each round of two combined timed runs riders didn’t want to be in the bottom two. A late entry from Tim McCullough didn’t stop him from making it through the rounds. After missing practice completely and riding the track for the first time in Round 1, he did extremely well to make it through to the top 6 riders.

Daniel Castillo was looking the fastest on the day as well as Sam Trevor. But Randal Huntington & Lindsay Klein looked like they were riding with no effort, just smooth and fast.
These 4 riders made it down to the final 4 and you HAD to be doing sub 21secs to be anywhere close to getting into this group.

In the semi finals Trevor and Huntington were knocked out meaning the final was all about Castillo and Klein.
Castillo went first and with all the pressure and the bantering from the sidelines he came down in the 3rd corner. From there he pushed it to the finish in the hope that Lindsay might crash. In their second run, Castillo gave the win to Lindsay by having a spectacular crash near the finish line.
Huntington (now commentating) decided to change the rules after this and said that Lindsay couldn’t win unless he broke the 20sec mark which seemed unbreakable. With it all on the line Lindsay smashed it to the finish and did the incredibly time of 19.89secs to take the win. And all this in a pair of thongs, Havaianas I might add.

In C Group it was 2 girls against 2 old guys (sorry boys). Jeff Shillington was looking the favourite right from the start, but putting up a fight was Reni Herrmann Castillo (Daniel Castillo’s wife), who has only been riding for a few months. Special mention must go to Isabella Paxton who beat her dad in seeding but was unlucky in Round 1 taking a small tumble.

John Paxton was getting faster with every run and Reni handed her finals spot to John when she took a fall in the semi’s. Now it was John and Jeff in the final. Jeff was looking fast and his times were just getting faster with each run. He crossed the line to take out the C Group title.
