bit of an update on my 2012 united supreme su1. along with a 'custom' hub guard for a fly front hub. its really just the top seal of a headset with a zip tie wound up inside to keep it in place. works pretty well as ive already got scratches on it from the first few grinds.

Have been out of the game since June 2010 due to an accident, and only just had my ankle reconstruction surgery a few weeks ago. So I'm building my BMX up again, starting with a new frame.

YES, I am getting an new black front rim, and yes, my rear is also getting done black again. In the 2nd picture you can see I'm getting a new LHD Tree Hub.

Frame - Stolen Cherry 20.25
Fork - Fit Shiv 2
Bars - Sunday Triumph (going to find something lighter soonish)
Stem - KHE Minimise
Cranks - Profile with Ti spindle
Front Wheel - BSD Street hub with Demolition Rim (soon to be a black Alienation Runaway)
Rear Wheel - Proper MagnaTi with 7KA (with Tree hub waiting to go on)

Also going to get a folding tire on the front to save a bit of weight. Why am I going so light? Because it will be a while til I'll be doing anything big again, so this just makes whips etc easier. Plus I like it light.

Weighs 9.5kg or 21 lb exactly. Going to get it down to 9kg

1) can you have rear disc style brake on a BMX?
Yes, there were a few frames with disc brake mounts in the early 00's, but not so much now - if v-brakes or u-brakes (or your foot) can't stop you you probably shouldn't be on a BMX.
Profile still make hubs to mount the rotors, but you still need to mount the caliper to the frame somehow.

2) can you have quick release front wheel on a bmx ?
Not traditionally (that I'm aware of), though it should be possible to trim down a MTB/Road axle & skewer to the correct length and re-thread it. I know it's not advised on the rear because the clamping power of a QR isn't great enough for the horizontal drop outs, but on the front....
