Maybe... Haven't done enough riding on newer bikes to know if they're really faster.
Anyway its the result of not buying a new bike since 2007. It was this then and through a process of replacing one part at a time (some second hand from here, some from shops). I've ended up with this.
Specs:
2009 Large frame sunday with a dhx3 - rcs ti spring
2013 Boxxer teams (WC lowers - would've been nicer in black but the white ones came up at the right time)
Spank Spike 28 rims with spoon hubs
Avid Elixir 7 trails
Thomson post with a selle italia xo saddle
renthal fatbar 780s with e13 stem
Raceface evolve cranks (one of the few bits that hasn't change from the original bike - can't kill them
DX pedals
Gamut P30 chainguide
Renthal chainring
ultegra cassette
x9 shifter and derailleur
Minion 2.5 DHFs front and rear
Dodgy bathroom scale weigh in puts it at 17.6 kgs.
