Oct Mitcham Update

OK,
So we haven't being seeing much on the ground lately, but rest assured work is progressing on the establishment of legal tracks in Mitcham. Being Spring it's a great time to take stock of what grows where, which may not be of interest to most of us, but is of vital importance for the Environmental impact statements that will be needed for future legal trails.

Other things that seem in the pipes:
GPSing trail alignments (existing and proposed)
Risk assessment of existing trails - eg for suitability as shared use trails, identifying re routes is being undertaken to avoid potential conflict zones.
Arrangements being made for volunteer induction and training
Negotiating funding arrangements
Investigating registration of a Safety Code under Recreational Services Act (to minimise Council liability)

Plus a bunch of other exciting stuff! The benefit of doing this stuff now is that it hopefully only has to be done once, for all reserves. Randells is still a long way off, Mitcham still request that you don't ride there. Things are changing, but as you can all appreciate these things take time.
