Same as anything, light weight. Good for weight weenie XC folk I guess. My Anthem came with them, and to be sure it was a light and fast bike.

Smashed the shit out of the ends on rock strikes a few times - definitely a crank to have booties on!! I never noticed any difference between them and alloy.

Meh, I wouldnt go out and buy them. But I didnt rush to take them off the bike that came with them, especially on a more XC orientated bike.

Perfectly happy with the alloy sram ones on the Trance - which took a bight from a nasty big rock thrown up by the front wheel, nice gouge in the alloy...
