Ok so the deal is, years ago i put my p3 dirt jumper in the shed where it wasn't touched for years, perfect working order when put away, pull it out and the stem no matter what i did wouldn't bite hard enough onto the steerer to stop it slipping when cornering hard.
forks are manitou shermans.
Things i tried:
multiple stems
loctite
punch marks on steerer and inside of stem to try to get it to grip.
redbull, bundy and coke can shims, with loctite.
I have no idea how the steerer has crushed, it looks fine and i have snapped bolts on stems trying to get them tight enough since. It's like the is some new magical everlasting water resistant lube on the steerer and if i can find a way to bottle it im sure to be rich.
so ideas? best one ive had is find a stem to small and get it machined to the right size or buy new forks.
more curious if anyone has ever had this happen before.
