Mountain Bike Orienteering is as it sounds. Orienteering on a bike.

Thought I would post here as there are events at Kiwarrak State Forest ( Taree ) on 20th & 21st July 2013

Kiwarrak State Forest is the mecca of the Mid North Coast of MTB. With 40kms+ of Singletrack.
The Manning Greater Lakes Tipriders are the caretakers/trailfairies of this brilliant MTB area.

MTBOrienteering is a challenge, to ride as quick as you can, but still be able to navigate. Not the quickest rider always wins. but the smarter rider.

Orienteering Maps are very accurate to the terrain, not like a Topo Map that can be, quite Out of Date.

The events are Saturday afternoon & Sunday morning.
There are courses for all age groups from MW/12 to MW/70+
Plus there are Open events like Sport Class in MTB XC events, for the not as serious.

MTB Orienteering in July - August

The MTB ORIENTEERING on July 20-21 @ Kiwarrak State Forest (TAREE) is $40 for Open category No Day Licence Needed.

On 24 - 25 August racing is at Warnervale Saturday 24th and Wallaroo Sunday 25th. These races are usually about $30 as they are not involving NSW Championships.

The NSW Champs on 20-21 July are Open to anyone with non-comp races called Open like Sport in XC MTB.

The Australian Championships were held in Kiwarrak State Forest in October 2012 and all raved about the brilliant tracks of the Greater Manning TipRiders MTB Club.
A contingent of about 30 from New Zealand said they were the best ever, for Orienteering.

MTB Orienteering with running also

Another form of MTB Orienteering with running also.
These events are between 2hours and 4 hours duration.
There are 4 distances to choose from and you can compete in teams.
First race of this season is on September 14th @ Ourimbah MTB Park.
Very cheap to enter for an Adventure Race.

MTB Orienteering @ Newcastle Area 24-25 August

The next MTB Orienteering is at Warnervale ( near Wyong ), on Saturday 24th August
then Sunday @ Walleroo near Raymond Terrace.
These events run by the Newcastle Orienteering Club are guaranteed to be well run.
Saturday is a Middle Distance event (winner should be about an hour).
Sunday is a Long Distance event (winner should be about 80-90 minutes).

MTB Orienteering Skills Development

MTB Orienteering Skills are being given at Warnervale at the event at Warnervale (near Wyong) on 24 August.
This is good training for MTBO and Adventure Racing.
You need to enter the event at Warnervale via eventor. http://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events

The training is free, you only need to pay for the event. Usually about $25.
The Coaching is by Dual International Greg Barbour.
