Not sure how much love there is on RB for mid-school roadies, but just fixed this one up as a commuter. Nice XL Chromoly frame so suits me size wise. I tried to keep it reasonably period correct too. Found some Alesa hoops from the same era laced to Shimano Exage hubs& kept all the Exage bits that were originally on it.

A couple of things took a while to get right. Cut the new fork steerer too short, had to buy another one, and went through 3 bottom brackets until I found the right crank offset!

Came up well though, rides real nice, smooth & fast. I forgot how quick you can accelerate on a roadie! Not sure about the drop bars though, got a set of bullhorn bars lying around that might suit my upright stance a bit better. Too used to mtbs & DJers!

Yeah it's great rescuing stuff and giving it a new lease of life. Next up is a mongoose expert pro I found in hard rubbish.
