Internal vs External Floodgate

Gday,

looking at upgrading to a pair of Rebas at the moment. One thing i dont understand is what an "external floodgate" is as seen on the reba race vs what im guessing is an internal floodgate on the SL? can anyone elaborate?

The external floodgate takes the form of a little gold knob that sits above the compression knob.

The internal floodgate adjustment sits under a little cap (also on top of the compression knob.) you use a 2.5mm allen key (such as the rebound adjuster) to adjust it.

the external floodgate has a larger number of turns for the given range of adjustment so it would be theoretically more tunable. One downside is that said knob will hit on some downtubes.
