help!! Single speed

:confused: I am planning on converting my bike to single speed (gt chucker 1.0 05) but i have no specialised tools or idea how to do it. I dont know how to remove the rear sprockets or cranks, and i have no idea if its a freewheel or cassette

PLEASE HELP ME!!!:mad:

take it too a bike shop like woody said
there has been many threads on this sort of stuff I'm pretty sure, have a search

i have searched but i cant find the right answers and also i wanted a diy project not just to take it to my lbs

Assuming you have the single speed kit.
You need a casset tool, chain whip, crank puller and chain breaker (If your going to reuse the chain, if not be creative, depending if you have quick links :p)
All up that's going to be about 80+ bucks for the tools, if you bought the SS kit from your LBS they would probably set it up cheap or free of charge.

The latest issue of Australian Mountain Bike magasine has a complete DIY guide to single speed conversions. Having had a crack at it myself recently, I would also recommend taking it to your LBS. The tools alone will cost you more than they will charge and there's a good chance that you'll screw it up and have to take it in anyway.

All up that's going to be about 80+ bucks for the tools,
or you could do what i did, the cheapskate i am.

make the chain whip, $ Free, ebay for a lockring remover $8.50 and a pin punch and a hammer for a chain breaker $Free

grand total= $8.50!

that's if your as tight as a nuns dot dot dot;)
