Garmin Edge 520

I'm interested in getting on board the new Garmin Edge 520 when it comes out over the next month to track performance in a bit more detail.

Which places are usually the best priced and anyone found a ripper deal? I assume it's a specialist cycling product as stores like HN and Rebel only stock the running products from Garmin.

These guys are usually pretty good in Aus...

But also Pushy's

Eventually Wiggle/CRC/usual suspects will have them in stock

Got my 510 from Pushy's, theirs were priced better than anywhere else I could find. CRC don't seem to stock Garmin at all, and prices from Wiggle / Jenson's etc weren't any better. Buying something like this from a local dealer made sense to me as well - piece of electronics is more likely to have issues than a cassette or chainring, so being able to return it locally if it breaks is comforting.

The 520 being a brand new product, you're unlikely to find any real bargains. Once the 520's out you might be able to pick up a deal on an older 510 model? I believe many of the new features coming in the 520, like live Strava segments, will be added to the 510 in a firmware update anyway.

Just browsed and only after the new strava live thing. I can't see what the new features are of the 520 are which won't be offered for any of the older ones through updates. In hindsight, I probably won't use any of that (except for possibly recovery time).

As a result, Pushys have the 810 performance bundle for 370 atm

510 bundle at 320!

I don't have a 520, I just bought a vivoactive though. Got it from dick Smith for $80 cheaper than anyone else on a flash sale thing. Ryda, Johnny Appleseed and bicycles online seem to be the cheapest Garmin sellers and are aus stock. They usually have a good selection of cycling specific gear. Pushys does have good deals, but not consistently in my experience.

Where'd you get those prices ?

e.g. http://www.pushys.com.au/garmin-edge-810-performance-bundle.html says 810 performance bundle $458 for me ??

Just grabbed the 510 performance bundle for 328, which wasn't too bad.

I think the GPS is better on the 510 and I don't need maps (810). I also ride a 50mm stem so having an 810 (95mm) would stick out a fair bit (not that the 510 is any smaller)

Depending on your setup, you might find that there's not enough room to mount on your stem, especially if your bar's lowered and you've got spacers above it. I'd be planning to run it on your bars, which can be tricky if they taper quickly after the stem mount.

Haha all over it! I already hit him up about the Enduro mount!
Sturdy as and the garmin mount tabs are sacrificial so they break away before your actual garmin.

Sadly they don't make any that place my computer where I want it....

I have the K-edge equivalent of the enduro mount, I kept hitting the garmin unit with my legs when climing short steep sections/obstacles and breaking the inserts. I switched to the K-edge adjustable stem mount (similar to the pmb mount but hinged to adjust the angle) and haven't had any issues with it.

Does anyone know when the 520 will be here? Firstly it was early August, then mid August, then late August, now early September....

Might be a good idea to wait and see how the 520 goes. Garmin don't have a good track record as far as release firmware goes, it took them a long time to get the 510 sorted out.
