Cyclists face jail for road breaches

Although what has been consistently dissapearing since the earliest reports is that the pedestrian got off the tram and crossed to right behind the tram. He was at fault. That wouldn't help the anti-cyclist agenda of the Melbourne papers though. It was refreshing to see that the Roads Minister Tim Pallas seems to be pretty level headed about the whole thing.

The woman bowled him over, then rode off a 'short time later'. Screw arguing about who is at fault, thats not really fair play now is it.

As for the new laws mooted, idea sounds fine really.

What about blitz on drivers who don't stop for pedestrians getting off trams, or not indicating, or talking on mobile phones, etc, etc, etc.

Ride within the law and the changes shouldn't impact you.

Harry Barber seems very keen to tow the line with whatever the government says. He should be demanding that Bicycle Vic are consulted be fore any laws relating to cyclists change in Victoria.

No problem with the laws, just with the press beat-up about cyclists again. How many times a year do hit-runs happen with cars and the story is dead the next day.

Spot on!

I also aggree that if you ride like a tool and kill someone you should be held accoutable.
