Cleaning 5.1 brake fluid spills on caliper...

OK, the first time always is the messiest, but I'm keen to learn and make up for the mess. So I cleaned it dried so as not to attract muck and grime but I'm not happy.

Question is, will methyl spirits do a better job with cotton buds or am I looking for more trouble when dealing with the piston steals?

You can get a spray can of brake cleaner for about $5 from Repco, that's the best thing to use, fast, cheap and effective.

bunnings, isoprophyl alcohol (not sure of the spelling) for $2.50. best thing for cleaning hydro fluid of all types.

Juice Lubes "brake juice"
is also superb but costs more, really useful for getting rid of brake squeel without stopping all brake function
