Are there any AM hardtail frames, for a 130-150mm fork, which aren't ti, aren't heinously expensive, and aren't covered in weirdly bent tubes, farmers shed gussets or anything else that looks like it belongs on a Russian tractor (i.e. not like a Ragley)?

Kinesis decade virsa maybe? Cotic Soul/BFe; is there an Aussie distro? Any other ideas?

Currently riding a blender....you'd wanna be 5'10" or shorter and don't expect to go on any 5 hour epics unless you are superman, pretty hard work uphill. Bloody fun though!
That cove in the for sale section is the go...bargain

Yeah thought as much, might as well buy an STP with that geometry.

On-One 456 evo and Cotic Soul both look spot on the money.

Ns Core/Surge

Been riding an NS Core 1 for almost 6 months.
160 up front Cromo frame so super solid.
It tracks well, and climbs like a goat it has done everything from Narby to the Garmin 24h.
It weighs a bit, and I run DH tires so it's harder work on the climbs but point it back down and it's great.
For the price I don't think you could beat it and it's far from ugly.
It does stand out a little so if you want a bike that shrinks into the background it might be a bit... Well Fluoro Green!
Hope you find something.

$429, 3 different sizes, can run 120-160mm comfortably, hammerschmidt hooks straight up, tapered head tube etc and starts @ 2.1kg.

I'm 5 10" and the medium was great for AM/xc duties, did some shuttles on it too.

I recently picked up an Evil Sovereign. I had been a bit put off by the styling of the dropouts with the caps on the ends of the stays. In person they look pretty good though. Sliding dropouts and ISCG tabs are two features I was after with mine as well.

Hey man that looks like a really good option, sharp as price too!

Medium = 16" (stupid question I guess)?

Correctus:
Lightweight freeride/all mountain/4X hardtail frame made of butted and heat treated 7075 aluminium tubes. The new Hornet is available in three sizes and comes with a hydroformed down tube perfectly fitted to the new tapered head tube. This gives a much stronger connection than a standard welded gusset and looks much cleaner. Head tube takes the Blaze or Flash headsets and all forks with 1.1/8” or tapered steerer. New oval top tube. New dropout designed to take re-shaped chain stay and seat stay tubes. Replaceable gear hanger. BB shell with ISCG-03 mount.
Specification

Dropouts: 135x10mm BB: Euro 68mm; Headsets: tapered (34mm/49.57mm); Seat post diam.: 31.6mm. Seat clamp diam.: 34.9mm; Weight: 2.20kg (14”), 2.24kg (16”), 2,30kg (18”). Recommended fork travel: 100-150mm. ( I'd run 120-160mm personally, a sextor or revelation, or the new travel adjustable x-fusion velvet would be ideal.)

What's the tire clearance like? Would it comfortably fit a 2.5'' wide tire? Or a 2.35'' 650b? (I know that can be hard to judge).

Looks like good bang for your buck, the large probably isn't quite large enough for me, but I'm a weirdo and most people wont have the same problem..

I had a 2.5" geax on my 2011 one, the 2012 ones weren't ready in the first shipment we've had (arriving with the wish frames), but I would be pretty confident it would, their pretty generous with their clearance, even the two6players fit a 2.35 without much of a hassle. The tyre well is pretty big even looking @ the above.

The 650b question, Not a clue, I'm not even seen a 650b bike in the flesh yet to be honest...

I didn't expect you to have, just something I'm interested in.. But a lot of these AM hardtails seem to fit them with no trouble. Judging against my chumba it seems you need enough space for 26x2.5 + two fingers or so of room (very scientific!) to fit a 650x2.35.
